Latest Movies April 2018

April always seems like the calm before the storm. The storm being the explosion of blockbuster movies in the month of May. But this does not necessarily mean that this month will be a quiet month. Some of these great big budget movies will also have an earlier pre-holiday release which will place them in my latest movies April 2018 list.

But for the time being, you can still enjoy some of the latest movies that arrived late last month. I have updated that list by adding more movies to it. In case you missed it, you can view the list here – Latest Movies March 2018

The big daddy of the latest movies April 2018 has to be The Avengers Infinity War. This is the long-awaited superhero sequel to Avengers Age of Ultron. Here Comes the Grump

GFM Films Here Comes the Grump

Here Comes the Grump is an animated feature film based on a cartoon series of the same name. The movie tells a tale of a young boy (Terry) who is transported into a magical land. But the boy has a purpose. And that purpose is to defeat an evil wizard named “The Grump”. This magical land is actually based on the fairy tales that Terry’s grandmother used to tell him. The only difference is that this place isn’t as happy and exciting as the stories that she used to share with him.

  • Lily Collins – Dawn
  • Toby Kebbell – Terry
  • Ian McShane – Grump

The movie has already been released in some countries in Europe and is due in cinemas across the world now. Reception on the movie has been decent and not bad. Here Comes the Grump surely makes for a good viewing if you wish to go to the movies with the kids.

Tyler Perry’s Acrimony

Tyler Perry Productions Acrimony

The psychological thriller Acrimony is written, produced, and directed by Tyler Perry. The movie stars Taraji P. Henson as Melinda, a faithful wife who lands on the bad end of a terrible divorce from an unfaithful husband. The movie has dark tones and motives which is probably eased up a bit with some signature Perry comedy. But there is no such candour in the trailer and it seems that Acrimony may not be one for the faint-hearted!

  • Taraji P. Henson – Melinda
  • Lyriq Bent – Robert
  • Crystle Stewart – Diana
  • Jazmyn Simon – June

Acrimony has just been released worldwide to a decent amount of box office success. However, the critical response to the movie is poor. The critics pick on so many aspects of this movie that it is difficult for more to point out one general weak point. Tyler Perry usually has important themes and lessons in all of his movies that can help us find our way in life. But on most occasions, Perry adds unnecessary content to help the movie reach its 90 minutes running time.

A Quiet Place

Paramount Pictures A Quiet Place

A Quiet Place is an upcoming Horror movie that is directed by John Krasinski. Krasinski also stars in the movie alongside his real-life wife Emily Blunt. The movie is about a family that is forced to live their lives in silence. This is due to the fact that violent creatures nearby hunt by sound. So “if they hear you, they will hunt you.”

  • Emily Blunt – Evelyn Abbott
  • John Krasinski – Lee Abbott
  • Millicent Simmonds – Regan Abbott
  • Noah Jupe – Marcus Abbott

A Quiet Place premiered last month and will be released early in April. The movie has so far received so overwhelmingly good reviews from critics who loved the overall look and scares of the movie. One critic went on to say that the creatures in the movie are original and scary. Something definitely worth watching if you love horror movies.

Game Night

game night
Warner Bros

Game Night is the latest black comedy to star Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams. It is about a married couple who enjoy playing trivia games. They first met at a bar during a trivia night and have since been married. However, the two have never been able to have a child. The movie follows our stars on an adventure during an Epic Trivia Game Night as they get more than what they have bargained for. This is because they start to unravel real-life mysteries.

  • Jason Bateman – Max
  • Rachel McAdams – Annie
  • Kyle Chandler – Brooks
  • Billy Magnussen – Ryan
  • Sharon Horgan – Sarah

Game Night has been on the circuit for a while now and is in the process of completing its worldwide theatrical opening run. The movie is an overnight success in both the box office and in critical review. Both audiences and critics love the movie which is why I have it on my list. It is a movie that has a wide appeal.

Warner Bros Rampage

Rampage is an upcoming monster movie that stars our favourite action hero, Dwayne Johnson. The movie is about the relationship between a primatologist and an albino gorilla named George. After an experiment goes wrong, George turns into a raging monster that grows to an enormous size. And that’s not all, The Rock and his buddy George now have to fight against an invasion of monsters.

  • Dwayne Johnson – Davis Okoye
  • Naomie Harris – Dr Kate Caldwell
  • Malin Åkerman – Claire Wyden
  • Joe Manganiello – Burke

Rampage is set to be released on the 13th of April. The premise of this movie is very odd. But it is a high octane, heavy CGI filled The Rock blockbuster movie. It is more suited towards action junkies.
